tranny doesn't shift, can't put it in P or R unless it is not running or I don't have my foot on the brake. shows code # p0705. What else can we do?

The code is for Limp mode on the transmission, which allows you to get off the road when there is a problem with the transmission,  indicating that the shift mechanism is having problems. Something may have been spilled into the console and shorted out the electrical. This will require the service of an independent Mercedes Mechanic or auto body shop that has worked on Mercedes Benz. A dealer will be very expensive.
