Mercedes: 1986 W124 260 e, computer security system, hood latch

Question
The central locking keeps on activating  and locking the doors a few seconds after the key is used to open the drivers door. I have checked the vacuum conections under the bonnet and all seem to be connected, I have not checked all the doors as yet.

Answer
Carl,
I believe that this is a combo electrical servo, vacuum system. I would try clearing the computer system.
Here is the process I used on my 420sel... Turn off all accessories and release the hood latch.

Lock the doors with the key. Remember the direction of rotation for locking. Do not remove the key until you hear and see all the locks activate.
Raise the hood and remove the battery cables (-) then (+). Clean the post and terminals ends. Wait 10 minutes; reconnect the battery (+) then (-). Securely close the hood.

Remembering the the direction of rotation for opening, unlock the vehicle and wait until all locks have opened before removing the key or opening the driver door. This should reset the computer security system.

Enter and start the vehicle. If you still have the problem. I would check for a vacuum leak. Vehicles of this age have small rubber connector for the plastic hoses and they become cracked and brittle.

Good Luck
Rob
