Oldsmobile/Buick: 1984 Oldsmobile Toronado Transmission, oldsmobile toronado, gm cars

I am finding that it takes a few moments (in some instances up to 15 to 20 seconds) for my transmission to engage when I shift from Park to Drive.  Also, I notice at times the transmission seems to slip, giving me some motion, but not full motion, until it fully engages.

What do you think the problem might be?

Sorry to say it sounds like your transmission has reached its end . Not knowing specifically what the problem is I would say the bands inside have worn out . Very typical problem in older GM cars . Stating the obvious but a new transmission would probably be in order .

There are ton of shops where you can pick up a quality transmission for a good price depending on where your located . If you have any more questions then please feel free to ask . Don't forget to rate my response to you .
