Porsche: Porsche engine, porsche engine, warning lights

Question
i have a 2001 911.
today i was driving the car around and when i got back there was a plastic burning smell that i couldn't figure where it was coming from... i later took a whiff of the engine bay and it appears to have been coming from there. I was hitting redline when the engine oil wasn't heated up, what have i done to my engine?!

Sounds like FUN!! My technicians think after reading your question that nothing major has gone wrong. You didn't indicate that any warning lights are on, or that the car is not running properly.
