Toyota: Location of EFI Air Filter?, toyota corolla, older cars

Question
Hi David, I have a 2004 Toyota Corolla LE (auto) and when I went to check the engine air filter to see if it needed replacement (EFI Air Filter), I found myself clueless. I feel sort of dumb because it's like asking where the tires are. But I'm an older man who is usd to older cars.It seems that unlike older cars I have had, the round air filter has gone the way of the dinosaurs. This one is rectangular and I am hesitant to unscrew the 2 bolts that hold down the plastic-type cover over the engine. Is this where it goes?
Thank you,
Richard

Answer
Well, being that currently the only new cars I've been able to see the engine bay of are Camrys, the newest Corolla I've been under is probably a '99.  In the Camry, once you pop the hood, on the right side, there's a intake box with two screws holding it closed.

If nothing else, following the intake tract from the intake manifold to where it leads to will get you right to the intake box.  It should be rectangular.

And yes..  the round air filter is gone..  BUT, my 1989 Corolla still has it..  It's a carb too! LOL!
