Volkswagen: A/C overfill ?, vw beetle, type tool

Question
Hi Ron,

I have a 1999 VW Beetle.  Last year the air stopped working.  Service checked for leaks, said none and refilled worked fine until this summer.  This year A/C gone again.  Thought I could do myself.  Hooked up 134A and it read about 10psi.  Started to fill with motor running and air on, after about 10 seconds I was at the RED 70 psi mark.  Now it is not cool at all and still reading at 70psi's.  How can I bleed some of?  And what could be the problem Condesor or blockage?

Thanks, Jerry

Answer
You can place a ice-pick type tool and bleed some out by carefully pushing the ball in (at the filler valve).

Bring it down to the green zone and see if it cools down.  If not, there indeed can be a clog.   Let me know if this is the case, and we can troubleshoot it further.
