Volkswagen: Brake replacement, caliper piston, pin gap

Question
I will be replacing brakes (rotors & pads) on my 1999 A4(2.8 Q).  My friend who has done brake work on Mercedes and Volvos will be helping.  He did mention that there is a special tool used to spin the caliper piston on older Audi's.  Is this true of my vehicles year? If so where can this tool be purchased?  Thank you in advance for any help.

Answer
the front calipers can be pushed straight in using a large set of pliers or similar. however the rear calipers need to be turned clockwise while being pushed in. for this you will need a caliper winding tool. you should be able to get one from any good motor factors, although it may need to be ordered. sykes pickavant is a good one, but it depends what you can get. providing it has two pins that grip the "piston" in the caliper and twist it as it goes in you should be fine. also beware, the rear discs / rotors may have abs rotors on the back, so make sure the new one looks exactly like the new one (most rotors can be removed carefully and refitted to the new disc). i will measure the pin gap tomorrow to ensure you have the correct size.
