Volkswagen: Windshield Visibility, car windshield, traffic film

I am desperately searching for a product to remove stubborn road film from my car windshield.  The road film is so bad that it is beginning to impare my visibility.  I've tried scrubbing with a scrub pad and cleaning over and over again.  Nothing seems to work.  Can you offer any suggestions?

in such cases we use a substance called tfr (traffic film remover). this removes most types of stubborn debris from all surfaces. but be advised, if this product comes into contact with chrome or bright work, it will dry out and dull it with no possiblity of getting it back to it's original shine/finish. this i found to my cost!
