Question
I have a 2000 and an 01 S40, in both cars the electric ignition coils were blown out and was missing while driving down the road. I bought two new ignition coil packs and a new set of wires, i have been switching the good parts between the two cars depending on the one i was driving at the time. The last time a took them out of th 00 and put them in the 01 i accidentally hooked the wires up backwards and tried to start it, it sounded weird and was missing and obviously would not start so i switched the wire position into the correct one and now it will start as long as i have my foot on the gas and am reving it up, if i take my foot off the gas then it die. It will not idle at all if my foot is not on the gas. What do i do, did i blow something out or break something hooking up the wires wrong?

Answer
Josh,
Some testing will be required to find the fault(s). Time to see a tech that has a scan tool and can monitor and follow the faults. So far I have not heard of someone that has hooked it up wrong, so I do not know what the faults could be. Now it is possible that there is another fault and that is what is keeping the car from idling. Sorry testing and hands on will find the fault, yours is not a common fault.
