Suzuki: timing chain and damaged valves on v-6, duel overhead cam, chevy tracker

Question
Hi, I have a chevy tracker, 2001 4x4, v6 duel  overhead cam, Suzuki engine with 94,000 miles. My timing chain broke and, i need  valve reconditioning, price range from $1,200 to $4,000. is the engine worth it? or would I be better off buying a used engine with less miles price est.of $3,300.

Answer
There are a couple of ways to go about this.
A complete rebuild, or a rebuilt motor, most reliability and longevity, most cost.
Salvage yard used motor.  Lowest cost for the most life in most cases, but there's no guarantee a couple of years down the road.
All the other options are somewhere between these two extremes.  You need to talk to the technician that will do the work to get a feel for what he thinks the best way to go is, after all, HE'S the one who will have to live with it a year from now, and you need to decide what tradeoff you want to accept.
