Suzuki: CNG in Suzuki Swift, suzuki swift, mumbai india

Question
QUESTION: I would like to know if CNG is advisable for  a Suzuki 'Swift' petrol MPFI. Thanks.

ANSWER: CNG (compressed natural gas), due to the fact that it is delivered into the motor in a gaseous state, precludes the use of traditional fuel injection, which is designed to meter liquid gasoline.  Can you use it without harming the motor?  Absolutely.  You will have to convert it to a CNG system.  That may or may not be lawful where you live due to emissions laws.

QUESTION: Thanks for the response David. I live in Mumbai India where CNG is legal and the Govt is promoting it. CNG for (mpfi kits) are available in plenty here however the engineers say that you loose torque. How far is it correct ?

Answer
There is a small power loss using CNG. It is offset by the fact that the engine runs cleaner, there is virtually no carbon build up, internal engine parts are not subjected to as severe operating conditions, and the oil stays cleaner longer.
I don't use it because I reside in the high mountains of Colorado, USA where winter temperatures frequently stay at or below -20C (as low as -30C) for extended periods, and CNG doesn't readily vaporize, and the engines run poorly until temperatures rise.
