Suzuki: 1998 Suzuki Esteem - Engine Loosing Power, fuel pressure gauge, suzuki esteem wagon

Question
QUESTION: I have been having an intermitant problem with my '98 suzuki esteem wagon.  The engine will start missing and loose power.  The engine rpm will surge and drop.  By shutting the engine off and setting for a few minutes the car will start and drive okay for a while until the problem repeats.  The last time this occured it was a hot day.  I have brought this into the Suzuki dealer but they can't pick anything up on there diagnostics.  Do you have any ideas on resolving the issue?

ANSWER: I suspect a fuel delivery problem.  You should hook up a fuel pressure gauge, and drive it until the malfunction occurs, and see if the fuel pressure drops at that point.  That's a fairly easy place to start.  Mostly, diagnosis consists of verifying that systems are functional, therby eliminating them.

QUESTION: I read on another forum that the '98 suzuki esteem had a call back on an issue associated with the on board computer, they reference an OBC default reset problem.  Could this be associated with fuel deliver, or the electronic fuel injection?  How do I go about hooking up a fuel pressure guage?

Answer
Anytime I acquire any vehicle, the first purchase I make is a factory service manual and all associated literature, in order that I have pertinent info available.
I've never even ridden in an Esteem, much less worked on one, and have no experience to draw upon.
http://www.suzukipitstop.com is your source for factory info.  I'm told some of the later info is available for download instead of making you order paper manuals.
