Mr. Paulsen: Thank you for your voulenteering support. I an looking at a 2001 Fully loaded Olds Bravada. Price is 13,995 with 42,250 miles on it. Good  price? Also, are these vehicles good in snow as this one has the Smart Trak system. Is this system better than 4x4 vehicles. I live in North-central ohio...zip is 44890. Thanks so much, Tony Kilgore

Hi Tony
Being a GM man myselv i really like the Bravada AWD as you dont have to switch to 4x4 like on the Jimmy and Blazer as its there all the time to kick in when needed...as for handling on slippery roads you will be impressed...i have yet to hear someone say something negative about this vehicle...
$ 13,995 is in the ballpark with some room Say $ 1000 to $ 1500 discount...
I checked autotrader.com and punched in your zip 44890 and came up with 3 vehicles available inside 25 miles...
Have you checked these ???
are you buying private or dealer...you have a trade ...if you need help as to how to negotiate for best deal...then give further detail...
Regards
 Ray

Thank you for your reply...What did you mean when you said a $1000 to $1500 discount? Yes, I checked those. The 2 for 19,000+ are too much out of my price range and the one for 12,995 has 49,000 miles on it, but the one I am looking at it has only 42,250 for $1,000 more. I'm buying from a dealer with no trade. I'm actually getting this deal approved with no-money down! They called this morning and said they got me all approved but there is another person interested in it (I'd say this is a tactic to get me to buy it right away). They said they are 4,000 below book (what book are they using??); so yes, I'd like more help as to negotiate the best deal.  Thanks, Tony

Answer
Tony its your money and you must test for better price...
Phone them back and offer $1000 less and tell them if they are interested to call you back as your going to look at another vehicle in a few hours...leave it at that ...if they dont call you back...you can still go for it later...my guess is they will offer you a better deal like a split $ 500 but stay firm...and if they really got someone else ( which i dont think )...so be it...its not the only car around...
Go to my old website   www.usedvehiclefacts.ca   i say old as i am retired from that dealer...click on Test Drive...accident...ect and pick up some pointers...
I am located in Canada and we use a Black book...But my whole point is if the dealer is a one price store? which i dont think...there is always room for a discount...
$ 4000. below book ? Accident repair ?...you can make your offer conditional upon your own mechanical inspection should you want to take that route...
And finally...
should you make the deal you will then go in the box ( business office )where they will want you to cough up another $ 2000. or more for Warranty and Rust protection ect...only you can justify if its worth the money...
I will be interested as to how you make out...
if you have more Q i will be here for you
Have a great day
