Tips on Buying Cars: How to be sure Im getting a 2014 and not a 2013, used, car

Question
I'm buying a new 2014 car and the model I want is probably something the dealer will have to get from a dealer somewhere else. The 2014 is identical looking to the 2013 model and there still a lot of 2013's around. So I wonder... How would I be sure that the model they bring me is a 2014 and not a 2013 model? I wouldn't think they would be so unethical to do that, but you never know. From what I see of the VIN# for my current car, it doesn't show the year, so looking at that wouldn't tell me. Thanks

Answer
Hi Lee.

You simply look at the 17 Diget plate located in front of dash near windshield on drivers side

The First Diget will be Country where vehicle was Manufactured

# 1 and 4... USA
# 2............. Canada
# 3.............. Mexico
# J............... Japan
# K............... Korea
# W.............. Germany

There are a few others, but if you’re in North America the above is the most likely.

The 10th digit on the vin# will be the year of vehicle

(J) 1988,,,, (K) 1989,,,, (L) 1990,,,, (M) 1991,,,, (N) 1992,,,, (P) 1993,,,, (R) 1994,,,, (S) 1995,,,, (T) 1996,,,, (V) 1997,,,, (W)1998,,,, (X) 1999,,,, (Y) 2000,,,, (1) 2001,,, (2) 2002,,, (3) 2003,,,, (4) 2004,,,, (5) 2005,,,, (6) 2006,,,,(7) 2007,,,, (8) 2008.,,,, (9) 2009,,,,

(A) 2010,,,, (B) 2011,,,, (C) 2012 --- (D) 2013,,, (E),,, 2014  etc

The last 6 numbers on the vin# is the number coming of the production line.
