Tips on Buying Cars: Registration & Title, ford taurus, title and registration

Question
I bought my 1st car back in May 2010- it was a 2000 ford taurus. I went to notary next door to pay the title and registration fees. Well, I never received either one. In Sept I kept calling notary and they told me to keep waiting for sticker to come in the mail. Every time I call they tell me to wait. I called dmv here in Pa and they said that no one applied to register my car, & that the car is NOT in my name. The woman at notary doesn't seem to care- she just tells me to keep waiting for it. I paid her 5 months ago and its still not done. I did get insurance for it but it feels funny driving a car to work everyday that's in someone else's name. What do I do?

Answer
Hi Tina

Normally it could take 4-6 weeks from when the dealer sends in a title application before the new title comes back to you.

This is an oddball situation that I have come across where buyer waited about 6 months for title, there is nothing illegal about what is happening.

Yes, I guess it does feel funny driving to work every day wondering what is happening,,, let's do this,,, give it another month, if you still have not received title let me know and I will try to look up avenue's to get this issue settled.
