Tips on Buying Cars: cooling off period for used cars, mercedes benz dealer, mercedes benz

Question
Hi Ray
I just found your interesting site after signing off on a used Mercedes Benz with a reputable Mercedes Benz dealer.
now that I've read your article, I've noticed a couple of mistakes and wanted to check with you.
But my main concern is I  didn't test drive the car as it was in the showroom,  I put the down payment on Sat Oct 16, can I still ask the dealer to test drive it and am I in a position to ask for my down payment if I noticed any issues with the car.
thanks for your assistance.

Answer
Hi Sel

If the dealer is reputable I don't see a problem, yes you made some mistakes, let's not dwell on them and concentrate where we go from here.

Without question phone the dealer and tell them to have the car ready for a test drive before you finalize the deal " I really don't expect the answer to be - the deal is finalized. If you notice issues during your test drive ask to have them fixed.

There is no cooling of period if the deal was done at dealership, if the dealer want's to play hardball they will keep your deposit.

Please let me know final outcome or if you need further help, I sure hope it does not come to that stage.
