Tips on Buying Cars: 2002 Chrysler Town & Country, high mileage, chrysler town

Question
My daughter and her husband need a good 2nd vehicle to drive 60 miles one way to work. They are considering a 2002 Chrysler Town & Country with 150,000 miles on it for $4300. This many miles on a Chrysler concerns me. It looks good and the owner has all receipts for maintenance at the dealer. They are in Michigan and moving to Wisconsin soon. Isn't this awfully high mileage for a Chrysler?

Answer
Hi Karen,

Yes the miles are a little scary, personally I would not invest $4300. on a vehicle going on 9 years old with that type miles unless it was negotiable and my mechanic passed vehicle 100% with both a compression and diagnostic test.It will cost a few bucks to have vehicle checked properly, but peace of mind doing that 60 mile trip.

Buying any vehicle is a process of steps, follow them in order on my website and it will help lessen the fear ending up with a lemon...

You must take vehicle for an independent inspection, having all the service records is excellent, but the past - this is now - if seller will not allow, you must walk away, and don't take vehicle to where the service work was performed.
