Tips on Buying Cars: Ford Certified Truck, autocheck, bid history

Question
I'm looking at a 2007 Ford Ranger at a dealership in Virginia. They are also trying to sell it on Ebay.

The truck is Ford Certified pre-owned but the history report done by AutoCheck says there is an indication of odometer rollback or tampering. They gave it a score of 87.

How can the truck be certified if it has odometer issues?

Thanks, John

Answer
I work for a Dealer now and I have had this problem lately myself, Most of the miss information is nothing but a clerical error, they can trace back or fax an affidavit to Autocheck stating the mileage is correct and Autocheck will fix the report. If they feel the mileage is correct and if Autocheck did not want to fix their end the dealer could still sell it at certified, Autocheck and Carfax are just opinions, I personally do not rely on either.
As far as them selling it on eBay, I would look at the bid history and come up with an offer that makes sense and email them with a offer and start your negotiation online.
