Tips on Buying Cars: 2007 Cadillac CTS with rebuilt title, 2007 cadillac cts, cadillac cts

Question
I am in love with the CTS and it is beautiful! The title is a rebuilt title, the car has 55k miles on it. The seller is asking 13,900 for the car but is saying he is not sure what happened to the car that he bought it that with a rebuilt title also. I'm not sure that it is worth buying. The car is also in another state, about 200 miles from me.

Answer
I would be very careful with buying a car with a rebuilt title. I would find out or ask for the body shop ticket, if they don't have it I would find the previous owners. Usually a car with a rebuilt title has frame damage, which leads to a lot of tire problems. If I drove the 200 miles to look at the car I would make sure it was during the day and I would ask to take the car to an independent mechanic shop and have a second set of eyes and opinion abouty the car. You can find companies like Lemon Busters or whatever is in your area, these are sevices that will go to the dealer and do a full examination on the car and give you a recommendation along with an inspection sheet, that way you don't have to make the drive. Just google mechanical inspection co in whatever town the car is in. A car that has a rebuilt title is usually worth fiftey cents on the dollar. I just traded a 2007 cts with 75k miles on it with no wrecks for $10,000. This price seems very high. Let me know if you have any other questions
