Tips on Buying Cars: title brands, buying, selling

Question
I bought a BMW from a private seller in Washington State and he told me that
the car had been stolen but when I transferred the title it came up branded-
CA.  I took it to the BMW dealership and they said that the car had been in a
wreck but the frame was not bent and everything was in good shape.  I
contacted the DMV and they said I had to find the CA owner in order to find
out what extent the car was damaged however I don't know who that owner
is and the person I bought the car from didn't disclose this information.  I'm
trying to sell the car but I'm not sure what I am supposed to tell someone
since I don't know the history.  Also, would it be better to just try to trade-in
to a dealership although I know they wouldn't give me the amount it is worth.
I've had it for sale for three weeks without any luck.

Answer

Hi Tracy

I am not replying to lecture you how to buy a car, but let's look at negative factors you did buying this car to make sure your next investment will be valid value.

First, your very lucky being told no frame damage, but you bought the vehicle without running a history report and you most likely had trust in sellers answer whom I am sure knew the vehicle had been in a wreck.

Let's not cry over spilled milk, where you go from here is all that matters.

(1) You only disclose that you bought the vehicle privately, from there you play totally vague, it will be up to the buyer to have done homework how to buy a car, something that you did not.

(2) For sale 3 weeks ?,,, " where " is there a link I can view ?
to get an idea of value or why you have not sold ?

(3) As for trade-in with a dealership, unless you really know what your doing this time you could end up in the same boat.

Tracy !!! Buying your next vehicle or to trade your current vehicle is a process of steps, take a half hour when time allows and study my website    http://www.usedcartips.org/

I like to help you but need more details, after study you will most likely have further questions, if you get back to me check the " make private box " or your information that you provide will be public = your choice.

Have a great day
