Tips on Buying Cars: lease mileage overage, lease company, smart car

Question
I have leased a 2008 Smart Car, love it, on a 3yr 36000 km lease.  It costs me about 5 cents a km to drive.  The end of lease cost is $9,000.  If I go over my mileage (cost 11 cents per km) will I have to pay the overage if I buy the car at the end of the lease.

Answer
Laura,

The answer to your question is NO!  If you buy the leased vehicle, then the mileage does not matter, and you owe the lease company no money except for the lease end cost of the vehicle which you say is $9000.

Hope this helps.
