Tips on Buying Cars: Purchasing a used vehicle, purchasing a used vehicle, mile warranty

Question
I am wanting to purchase a used Jaguar. Currently, I can buy a 2005 with 24K miles for 18,100.00 or a 2006 with 36K miles for 19,000.00  The Jag comes with a standard 4 yr. / 50K mile warranty. Which of these would be my best route to go. My other option would be to purchase a Jag via an auction. What are your thought on this.

Answer
Joie,

Thanks for your question.  I apologize for the inconvenience of not getting back to you sooner.  As for which vehicle to purchase, it really is up to you.  I don't know that either is a better deal than the other.  They are worth very similar to the same amount of money retail and wholesale wise.  As for purchasing a unit at the auction, I am always skeptical of this for a consumer.  This is because the dealership purchases units there and then takes them back to the dealership to make them ready, and perform safety checks, etc.  It is more difficult for a consumer to do the same, and more costly usually, and I really don't think that you will save any more money in the long run.

Hope this helps.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks -

Jeremy
