Used Cars: Bought Used Car, ford dealership, ford ranger

Question
I bought a used 1999 Ford Ranger for my 16 year old son on October 17,2008.  He began driving it on November 17th when he received his licenses.  He was complaining with the brakes, so I took it to my local Ford dealership and found out that the vehicle was an unsafe vehicle.  All the parts related to the braking system was so rusted they needed replacing.  I also found out the dealership did not inspect the vehicle before they sold it to me.  My assumption is because they knew it would not pass an inspection.  They have offered to replace all parts that were rusted.  They have had the car now for 5 days and each day they call there is another issue with the vehicle passing inspection.  Do I have a case on just demanding my money back. Even if they get it to pass an inspection I am worried about what will happen in a month from now.

Answer
First and foremost give the dealership an opportunity to try and make you happy, weather it be fixing it at their expense, to pass inspection, or just giving you your money back.  If not you have to know that every state has their own ways of governing the sale of used vehicles.  If you were here in oklahoma you would call the Used Motor Vehicle and Parts Commission to complain, and they would be all over it.  You might try to find out if there is a comparable type place in your state, and if so complain.  If there is no type of a governing body in your state, you are probably out of luck, and I would just take all that they are willing to give and maybe try and trade it in elsewhere.  I would really want to have a carfax report on it, make sure it was not in a flood.  Unfortunately for the most part, most of the times, you really dont have much of a "legal" case.
