Truck Repair: black smoke, m11, fuel pump

Question
i have a 1990 volvo with an M11 cummins, had an endframe done, new turbo, re-built and recalibrated fuel pump. everytime you take off or shift alot of black smoke comes out of the stack and goes away, thick black smoke any suggestions of what it could possibly be

Answer
This a STC engine?? Black smoke is either too much fuel or not enough air.Probably who ever calibrated the pump set the No-Air setting too high for better acceleration response.Take the whole truck to where ever the pump was worked on & maybe they will turn it down some.
