Truck Repair: Ford F-150 wont start, ford f 150, noid light

Question
Ford F-150 5.0 1986 p/u won't start. It was running fine. I drove it approx. 25mi. turned it off and then 20 minutes later tried to start it. It started for a second and then died and just turn over until battery went low. I'm getting intermitten spark. It's getting fuel and there is gas in tank. I r&r starter 7months ago when it went out. New starter turns motor over. When p/u has under 1/4 tank of gas I hear a siphaning sound or humming noise from motor compartment. This go away went fuel reads over 1/4 tank of gas. Any help?

Answer
Hi Rich,
The siphoning sound may be a little check ball I have seen in the side of the pump. I can't say that it is bad, necessarily...I have heard it on trucks that were running fine.
But I would suggest connecting a fuel pressure tester to see if the pressure is where it needs to be.
Check the injector fuses also, and maybe even get a noid light to see if there are pulses getting to the injectors.
There should be battery voltage at the injectors whenever the key is on.
