Vintage Cars: 1985 Mercedes 380 SL, wheel bearings, rear differential

Question
I have a bad popping in the passenger side rear when I corner at 15 or higher mph. It also sounds like a rattle whenever I hit a pothole, or a grinding when I'm backing up and that wheel goes higher than the other 3. I have already had to change the short fuel hose on that side. It busted randomly really bad and I lost 10 gallons of fuel in my workplace parking lot.Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
could be a lot of things, I would first check the flex disc at the connection between the driveshaft and rear differential, I would also check the rear axle on that side as well as the  wheel bearings.  Other simpiler things are muffler mounting hardware, loose heat shield around fuel pump or bad shock housing or attachement.  really just have to look at all that is there and determine first visually and then by testing.  So you know, rear axle and bearings are not an easy fix on these cars
