How to End a Dodge Lease Early

If you have leased a new Dodge vehicle, your lease is managed by Chrysler Financial. Chrysler Financial handles new vehicle leases for Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler dealers. Since individual Dodge dealers set up new Dodge leases, the method for ending a Dodge lease early varies by dealer. Because of this, there may or may not be a fee for ending your lease early.

  • Look through your lease documents to see if there is a clause about ending the lease early. Not all Dodge vehicle leases have such a clause. If your lease does have it, you will see the lease-breaking penalty fee listed. If there is no lease early termination clause, you can go back to the dealer where you leased the vehicle to ask about breaking the lease. Or, you can call the customer service number on your leasing paperwork. If the dealer gives you a fee amount for breaking your lease, ask for it to be in writing before you break the lease.

  • Contact Chrysler Financial using the contact number on your leasing paperwork to find out about your options. You can also get details on the early lease termination fee. Ask if there is a fee to transfer the lease into another person's name, as you may be able to find someone to take over your lease.

  • Visit a local Dodge dealer in your area and look at new vehicles on the lot. According to Chrysler Financial, some dealers allow you to end your lease early if you get a new vehicle. When you do this, you are typically not charged the early lease termination fee. If the first dealer you go to does not offer this, you can try visiting another Dodge dealer in your area.
