How to Install a Heater Fan in a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

Originally released in 1986, the Nissan Pathfinder was built on the same chassis as Nissan's pickup. It was also only available in a two-door version. By 2002, it had undergone several changes; one of these was using unibody construction instead of a ladder chassis like the original. The unibody construction is stronger and lighter at the same time. Changing the blower motor is not a difficult task and only requires a few tools to do the job right.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 1/4-inch-drive ratchet
  • 1/4-inch-drive metric socket set
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Open the glove box and remove the screws holding the striker in place. Remove the two clips inside the box and remove the box.

  • Remove the screws at the base of the trim and across the top of the trim where the box was. Pull the trim towards you and up at the same time to release the hooks holding the trim to the dash.

  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor, and then the aspirator tube. Using the ratchet and socket, remove the three bolts holding the blower to the case, and lower the blower.

  • Install the new blower and hand thread each bolt until it's are snug. Tighten the bolts and install the harness and aspirator tube. Install the trim panel and screws. Insert the glove box and set the clips, then install the striker.
