How to Reset the Light on an LX470

The Lexus LX470 is an SUV produced by the Toyota Motor Company. The most common light that needs to be reset on the LX470 is the "Check Engine" or maintenance light. The maintenance light indicates an issue with your vehicle. Once you resolve the issue, the light may still be on and you will need to reset it. This can be done by either disconnecting the battery for a few seconds or resetting the trip meter while you turn the vehicle off and then back on. If the headlights or tail lights won't turn off and need to be reset, you can manually reset them by replacing their fuse in the fuse compartment under the hood.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Fuse puller

Disconnecting the Battery

  • Pull the hood release lever located below and to the left of the LX470's steering wheel to release the hood latch.

  • Lift up the hood with both hands to allow access to the battery.

  • Disconnect the negative terminal from the LX470's battery using a socket wrench. Wait five minutes for the light to reset.

  • Reattach the negative terminal to the battery and close the hood.

Trip Mileage Button

  • Insert the key into the ignition and place the ignition into the "ON" position.

  • Press and hold the mileage button on the steering column. Turn the ignition to the "OFF" position.

  • Turn the ignition back to the "ON" position while still holding the mileage button. Release the button once the maintenance light turns off.

Replacing Fuse

  • Pull the hood release lever below and to the left of the LX470's steering wheel to release the hood latch. Lift up the hood. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery with a socket wrench.

  • Remove the cover from the LX470's fuse panel and remove the fuse of the light you wish to reset. Use a fuse puller to remove the fuse. The location of each fuse can be found in your vehicle's owner's manual.

  • Install a replacement fuse into the fuse panel and reattach the cover. Reattach the negative terminal to the battery. Close the hood.
