How to Remove a Bumper From a 2005 Camry

The 2005 Toyota Camry has a front and rear bumper made of a thick, flexible material. This absorbs most small dings and dents, but can be punctured or smashed in a collision and require replacement. You can remove either bumper in under 30 minutes with very few tools. Almost anyone can remove these bumpers without any help.

Things You'll Need

  • Ratchet
  • Socket set
  • Phillips screwdriver

Front Bumper

  • Remove the row of five screws on the edge of the front bumper, just in front of the rear tires, with a Phillips screwdriver. Push the black plastic inner fender out of the way so you can see the back side of the bumper.

  • Reach up to the seam where the bumper and fender meet to find three bolts. Remove these bolts with a ratchet and a 10-mm socket.

  • Open the hood of the Camry and look on each end of the grille. There is one 12-mm bolt on each side. Remove these with a socket and pull the bumper from the car.

Rear Bumper

  • Remove the row of five bolts from the front edge of the rear bumper, just behind the rear tires, with a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Reach inside the rear bumper where the bumper meets with the rear quarter panel of the car, just behind the rear tire. Remove the row of bolts with a ratchet and 10mm socket.

  • Open the trunk and find the row of plastic clips along the top of the bumpre on the outside of the trunk. These clips look like plastic circles. Pry them up with a flat screwdriver until they pop out. Pull the bumper off of the Camry.
