How to Replace Oddysey Dash Lights

The Odyssey is a minivan that Honda has produced since 1995. Currently in its fourth generation, the Odyssey has several lights within the dashboard such as the clock illuminator light ad the climate control lights. Eventually, all of the lights go out and need to be replaced. Replacing the light involves disassembling the dashboard which can take more than an hour. Thankfully, removing the dashboard is fairly straightforward as it mainly involves removing screws.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Replacement bulbs
  • Open the Odyssey's hood. Make sure the engine is off and use a socket wrench to take off the black terminal from the battery. This will ensure the air bags don't deploy when you are removing the dashboard.

  • Insert the flat-head screwdriver between the upper steering column cover and lower steering column cover. Pry both covers off.

  • Begin pulling the center dashboard cover off. It will be held in place by several clips. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the clip off and keep pulling. Be very careful, as the dashboard cover is made of plastic and can crack easily. Once the dashboard cover becomes loose, you will have to disconnect all five electrical wires connected to it. Simply squeeze the plastic tabs on the connectors to disconnect them.

  • Remove the two screws holding the upper dashboard cover in place and pull the cover off by hand using the flat-head screwdriver to pry out any clips you come across. You will come across two more electrical connectors. Disconnect them and remove the dashboard cover.

  • Locate the burned out bulb on the underside of the upper and lower center dashboard covers, rotate them clockwise and pull them to remove them from the socket. Install a new bulb by rotating it clockwise into the socket. Reassemble the dashboard covers and the steering column covers. Reconnect the battery.
