How do I Remove MR2 Spyder Headlights?

Central Motors, a division of Toyota, produced the MR2 Spyder from 1984 to 2003. The headlights on your Toyota MR2 Spyder are important to your safety. A burned-out headlight not only decreases your own ability to see at night---it also decreases other drivers' ability to see you at night. A burned-out headlight could also cost you in the form of an expensive traffic ticket.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Replacement bulbs
  • Open the hood of your MR2 Spyder, and put your key in the "Off" position.

  • Find the back of the burned-out headlight assembly, and unplug the electric connector. Depress the plastic tabs on the sides of the connector with your fingers to loosen it; if you cannot do so with your fingers, press the tabs with a screwdriver.

  • Remove the rubber cover from the bulb socket, and release the retaining spring by pushing it inward.

  • Pull the bulb directly out, and put in the new bulb.

  • Replace the rubber cover, then click the retaining spring back into place.

  • Reconnect the electrical connector to the back of the headlight assembly.
