The headliner in a Honda is fastened to the roof of the vehicle using adhesive, along with a foam backing. Removing the headliner may vary slightly from vehicle to vehicle and according to the year of your Honda. The basic process, however, is the same for all Hondas. You may need a special tool, called a trim removal tool. This tool has teeth on it designed specifically for removing the trim that may be overlapping on your headliner. It is available at any auto parts store.
Pry the cover off the bottom of the rear view mirror with the trim removal tool. Wedge the teeth under the edge of the cap and pry it off. This will expose a small section of the edge of the headliner.
Wedge the tool under the cover of the center dome light and pry it off. Then, remove the retaining screws holding the dome light in place and pull the dome light down.
Pry up all of the trim that overlaps the headliner using the process outlined in step one.
Pry down on the outside edge of the headliner and carefully pull down on the headliner. Work around the outside edge first until the entire headliner comes down.
