It is always a good idea to have a spare tire in case of emergency, but it will do you no good if the tire is in disrepair when you finally use it. Exposure to sunlight and other factors can leave your spare tire brittle and useless. Thankfully, you can buy a spare tire cover. These tire covers work for full-sized spare tires that mount on the exterior of your vehicle, but not tires that sit inside or underneath.
Turn the tire cover right side out. The inside of the tire protector should have a tag or some other indication that it is the inside.
Stretch the top section of the tire protector over the top of your spare tire. Pull the top part down over the spare until the tire fills the top section. The tire protector should fit fairly snugly.
Stretch the bottom part of the tire protector down and around the bottom section of the spare tire. By now, you should notice that the tire protector does not completely cover the back part of the spare tire; this is normal and is no cause for concern.
Pull the edges of the tire cover out so that the cover sits straight on the spare tire.
