Stereo Removal in a 2007 Hyundai Elantra

Removing the stereo in some vehicles is a challenging mess. It's not uncommon to find that several panels need to be removed to access the stereo's bolts or screws. This is not the case, however, with the 2007 Hyundai Elantra. The car's stereo is one of the simplest to remove: it takes about 5 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Pliers
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Unhook the black cable from the Elantra's battery. Use pliers to remove the nut from the cable, and then pull it up to unhook it.

  • Grip the plastic panel around the stereo firmly. Pull it to remove it from the dash. Inspect the back to find the hazard light connection. Unplug this connection and set the plastic panel to the side.

  • Remove the four Phillips screws from the stereo. You'll find a screw in each corner of the stereo. Grip the stereo and pull it out. Unplug the two connections on the back to finish the stereo-removal process.
