How to Reprogram a Remote for a Car Starter

Remote car starters are a popular accessory, especially in the winter, for starting your car before you ever enter the vehicle. You can start the car for up to 10 minutes at a time from within your house on chilly winter mornings and use the remote to restart it as often as you would like. You can reprogram these remotes to your system if the signal has been lost, using just the remote and your ignition key.

  • Enter your car with your keyless remote and turn the key in your ignition to the "Run" position.

  • Press the "Valet" button on your remote once. Wait for the horn to chirp and press and hold the "Valet" button again.

  • Press the engine starter button on your remote while still holding the "Valet" button and wait for the horn to chirp again.

  • Release the "Valet" button after the chirp and the programming will be completed.
