How to Reset a Key FOB for a Ford Escape

The Ford Escape can be equipped standard or aftermarket with a number of the manufacturer's most popular technologies. One such capability is the keyless entry remote system, which is installed into your car and allows you to use remotes to control your car's locks, trunk and panic alarm. These remotes, known as key FOBs, can be programmed with no professional experience and equipment. Once programmed, you will be able to use up to four different remotes with your car.

  • Enter your car with your key and key FOB and insert the key into the ignition.

  • Turn the ignition key frrom "Off" to the "Run" position (one short of turning the car on) eight times in 10 seconds.

  • End with the key in the "Run" position after the eighth cycle and wait for the car to cycle the locks.

  • Press any button on your keyless remote within 20 seconds and wait for the locks to respond again to confirm programming.

  • Repeat Step 4 with any extra remotes, doing it within 20 seconds and waiting for the locks to cycle every time. Turn the ignition "Off" after the last remote to finish the process.
