PT Cruiser Intake Removal

The intake tubing in a PT Cruiser connects the throttle body to the air filter, and is responsible for routing the air through to the engine. Removing the intake tubing and replacing it with a performance intake can improve horsepower and gas mileage, and potentially increase the resale value of the car as well. First though, you have to remove the old intake, which takes about 15 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Nut-driver set
  • Pop the hood. Locate the intake tubing on the rear of the engine, with the air filter on the driver's side. Disconnect the electrical connections to the intake tubing using your hands.

  • Hold the engine cover with both hands and pull it straight up towards the hood to remove it from the car. Remove the hose clamps connecting the intake tubing to the throttle body using the nut-driver set.

  • Locate the crankcase vent hose that connects the valve cover on the engine to the intake tubing. Pull it off of the valve cover with your hands.

  • Hold the air-filter box with both hands. Lift it vertically up off of the fender well to release the rubber clips that hold it in place. Pull the air-filter box and the intake tubing out of the engine compartment.
