The Jeep Wrangler nameplate first appeared in 1987, although similar Jeep vehicles have been manufactured for decades. One of the features Wrangler owners love about their vehicles is the ability to easily remove the doors for off-road driving. Unfortunately, Jeep attached the side view mirrors to the door itself, leaving drivers without them while driving with the doors off. You can easily relocate your side mirrors with a relocation kit.
Purchase a mirror relocation kit. You can do this through an Internet retailer or visit your local automotive parts store. Pay careful attention to the kit package; some kits have a simpler installation process than others. Try to avoid kits that require drilling.
Remove the side mirrors from the door. On most Wrangler models, the side mirror is mounted by three torx screws. Remove the torx screws and the side mirror assembly will easily slip off.
Mount the new brackets from your mirror relocation kit. Some kits have brackets that easily slip around your windshield wiper bracket; others will require you to remove a few of the torx screws on your front fender. The brackets from these kits install into the fender holes left behind when the screws are removed.
Attach the side mirror assembly to the relocation mount. Make sure you properly tighten the screws. Adjust the mirrors before driving. Relocating the side mirrors will take away your option to adjust the mirrors from inside the vehicle.
