How to Personalize a Spare Tire Cover

There are several vehicles on the road today that have spare tire covers on them. Most of these spare tire covers are either left blank or have the name (or logo) of the place you purchased your vehicle from. You can easily personalize your spare tire cover to add a nice overall touch to your vehicle. Why not show the world a little something about you? There are various things you can do to achieve this and the following steps will teach you how.

Things You'll Need

  • Spare tire cover
  • Soap and water
  • Decals and stickers
  • Paint
  • Stencils
  • Tape
  • Paintbrush or air gun
  • Decide how you want to personalize your spare tire cover. You may have something in mind from seeing other people’s covers or you may start with a new idea. Figure out what exactly you would like to do to personalize your spare cover. You can choose from premade decals and stickers, make use of stencils; or if you are artistic, you could even do freehand designs with a paintbrush or air gun.

  • Purchase any materials needed. Make a list of any items needed to complete your spare tire personalization. It will depend on the method you choose as to what you will need to buy. Always verify that any of the materials that you are using are weatherproof, since the spare tire cover will be subject to the climate.

  • Ready the spare tire cover for personalization. Prior to you doing any personalization to your cover, thoroughly clean and dry it. You do not want dirt or water to be on the spare tire cover as you are applying the stickers or paint. This could affect the general appearance of it and also the time frame it will last.

  • Apply your personalization. Add any of the stickers or decals, but be positive on where you want to place them on the spare tire cover first. You do not want to have to remove them or this will affect their ability to adhere to the cover. It may be helpful to use tape to secure the stencils while you paint them. You could draw an outline of the design or freehand it with either brushes or an air gun. Always allow the personalization of your spare tire cover to completely dry.
