How to Tune a Cobra 19 DX

The Cobra 19 DX is a style of mobile CB radio. Cobra is one of the world's leading manufacturers of CB radios. The small, compact design of this model makes it very desirable for many who use CB radios on a daily basis to communicate information, such as long-haul truck drivers. The Cobra 19 DX has an extremely simple to use interface that allows operators to easily tune the radio.

  • Turn on the Cobra 19 DX by turning the volume knob clockwise away from the "Off" setting. Set the CB radio volume at a desired level that is safe and comfortable for you.

  • Adjust the squelch knob on the front of the CB control. The squelch is used to eliminate background noise or static that may come through the radio when no signal is available. The farther you rotate clockwise, the stronger a signal must be to come through.

  • Tune the RF setting to a desired level. The RF level controls the sensitivity of the Cobra 19 DX. The more sensitive the setting, the more signals will be picked up. However, very strong nearby signals may cause audio distortion with a sensitive setting. The farther clockwise you turn this knob, the more possible signals the radio will allow in.

  • Select a channel on the CB radio. By rotating the channel knob, the LCD display will show you what channel you are tuning to. Rotate clockwise for higher channels, counterclockwise for lower.
