How to Reset the SRS Light on a '93 Honda Accord

The 1993 Honda Accord is part of one of Honda's most successful lines. Praised for its fuel economy and handling, the 1993 Honda Accord was also one of the safest cars on the road. Although the safety ratings are high, the Honda Accord is not without its minor problems. A common issue with this vehicle is SRS Light. One of the reasons this happens is low voltage. Here is how you resolve that issue.

Things You'll Need

  • SCS Service Connector

Erasing SRS Memory

  • Purchase a 2-pin SCS Service Connector at an automobile store. It is a small blue plastic square with 2 metal pins inside.

  • Turn car ignition off. The car power must be off to ensure safety.

  • Locate the Memory Erase Signal (MES) plug in the fuse box on the driver side, under the dashboard. It is a yellow plug with two wires in it.

  • Attach the MES plug to the SCS Service Connector.

  • Turn on the ignition, but do not start the vehicle. The SRS light should turn on briefly.

  • Disconnect SCS Service Connector within three seconds of the SRS indicator light turning off. The indicator light should return.

  • Reconnect SCS Service Connector to MES plug. The indicator light should turn off.

  • Disconnect the SCS Service Connector from the MES plug. The indicator light should blink two times signaling the memory is erased.

  • Turn the vehicle completely off.

  • Wait a few moments before turning the vehicle back on. The indicator light should turn on then turn off normally.
