One popular modification for the 2006 Ford F-150 is to remove the factory stereo and replace it with an after-market model. The new stereo can add such features as an in-dash CD changer or a digital equalizer. Plus, you may raise the vehicle's potential resale value. Removing the deck should take approximately 10 minutes.
Locate the plastic bezel that goes around the radio. Find the gap between the top of this panel and the dashboard. Pull the panel towards you to release the clips holding it in place. Unplug the wiring on the back of the panel and put the panel on the opposite seat.
Unscrew the four 9/32-inch screws located on the sides of the deck using the Phillips screwdriver.
Place one hand on the top of the stereo and one on the bottom. Pull it towards the rear of the cab until it's out of the dashboard and you can access the backside. Unplug the wiring on the rear of the deck.
