How to Use Isopropyl Alcohol to Clean Carburetor Parts

Carburetor parts are made up of an extensive line, such as choke coils, floats, pull offs and carb kits, and are featured in many cars and trucks. Some of the newer hybrids and electric models have different designs, and so there might be some variation. Isopropyl alcohol is made by combining propene and water. Cleaning carburetor parts with isopropyl alcohol is great, as it evaporates incredibly fast and leaves zero residue.

Things You'll Need

  • Spray bottle
  • Lint-free cloth
  • Remove all of the rubber and plastic pieces from the carburetor parts that you want cleaned. These might get shrunk or damaged if they come in contact with the alcohol solution.

  • Spray the parts heavily with the alcohol, and allow for them to sit for a couple of minutes. This will give enough time for the alcohol to completely evaporate. You might need to dump the alcohol in a spray bottle if the one you bought does not already come with it.

  • Scrub the parts with a cloth to wipe all of the grime, and residue off of the parts. This will now come right off since the alcohol was applied.
