2005 BMW X3 Oil Capacity

The BMW X3 debuted in 2004 as a smaller and more nimble relative to the X5. In its second year on the market, the X3 came in a pair of trim levels: 2.5i and 3.0i. The 2.5i model featured a 2.5-liter, six-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 175 foot-pounds of torque, The 3.0i model, on the other hand, came with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produced 225 horsepower and 214 foot-pounds of torque.

Oil Capacity

  • The 2005 BMW X3, with either engine, requires a total of 6.6 quarts of engine oil to fill the engine and its filter. BMW recommended using only 5W-30 or 5W-40 BMW High Performance Synthetic Oil in the X3. If the specified oil is not available, you can substitute it with 5W-30 or 5W-40 engine oil that meets or exceeds API SH specifications to top off the oil between changes.
