How to Remove a Seat in a Mercedes Benz

The back seats can be removed from all Mercedes Benz models. The main reasons to do this are to repair the seats or re-cover them, or to get easier access to the wiring. The seat removal process for each Mercedes Benz car is very similar, as the cushions come out in the same way and the attachments are universal.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • 10-mm open-end wrench
  • Create space to work in by moving the front seats as far forward as possible.

  • Release the clasp under the back seat. To do this, place both your hands on the seat cushion and push toward the back of the car. Push the cushion up and, if done properly, it will detach from the car.

  • Unhook the backs of the seats and twist them forward. Lie them down in the empty space where the cushions used to be.

  • Go outside the car and open the trunk. Take out the three screws fixing the divide between the trunk and the back seats and remove the divide from the car. There is one screw on each side of the divide and one in the middle at the top.

  • Remove the nut from between the seat backs, towards the floor. The best access to this nut is through the trunk.

  • Go back inside the car and remove the two nuts on the side of the seat back closest to the door. Repeat this for the other seat.

  • Lift the seat backs from the hinges and remove from the car.
