How to Install Tail Lights in an Acura RDX

As motorists on the public roadways, one of the duties of being a responsible driver is maintaining your vehicle in an operable condition. All vehicles must have operable taillights as a safety indication to oncoming motorists. Owners of the Acura RDX will find replacement taillight bulbs can be purchased at a local auto parts store and can be installed in the driveway or garage.

Things You'll Need

  • Cloth
  • Slotted screwdriver
  • Open the tailgate of the Acura RDX, and place a cloth on the taillight assembly panel located on the inside of the tailgate.

  • Pry open the taillight assembly carefully with the slotted screwdriver by sliding the screwdriver into the notch on the middle edge of the assembly.

  • Remove the burned-out lights from the assembly by turning the socket counterclockwise until the bulb comes lose.

  • Screw in the new bulbs into the assembly by turning the socket clockwise until the bulbs are seated into place.

  • Turn on the Acura RDX lights, and press the brake to test the lights.

  • Replace the taillight assembly panel, and snap into place.
