How to Replace a Camry Antenna Mast

The antenna mast on a Toyota Camry is attached to the quarter panel on the inside of the engine compartment. The mast is attached to the cable that plugs into the radio. This means that you will need to extract the antenna assembly to replace the mast. To do this you will must obtain a replacement antenna, for the model year of your Toyota Camry.

Things You'll Need

  • Wrench
  • Screwdriver
  • Antenna assembly
  • Open the hood and set the support bar. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal with a wrench.

  • Look under the dash on the passenger side to see where the antenna enters the vehicle. Trace the antenna cable to its connection with the antenna cable.

  • Disconnect the antenna cable and electrical wiring connector. Remove the power antenna unit from the vehicle.

  • Remove the bolt that secures the antenna to the inside of the quarter panel with a wrench.

  • Pull the antenna and mast down through the opening in the quarter panel. Remove the antenna.

  • Insert a new antenna and mast in the hole in the quarter panel. Secure the antenna to the inside of the quarter panel. Tighten the nut to secure the antenna mast.

  • Run the antenna cable to the inside of the vehicle. Attach the cable to the power antenna unit and then reconnect the electrical wiring connector.

  • Connect the antenna cable from the radio to the power antenna.

  • Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery terminal. Close the hood.
