How to Replace the Cabin Filter in a Maxima

Some models of the Nissan Maxima are equipped with a cabin air filter that blocks dust, pollen and allergens from entering the passenger compartment. Nissan recommends replacing this filter every 10,000 miles or at least once per year. A clean cabin air filter will keep the air in the passenger area cleaner and will improve air circulation throughout the air conditioning system.

Things You'll Need

  • New cabin filter
  • Slide the two pins out that are located along the bottom hinge of the glove compartment.

  • Open the glove compartment.

  • Twist the glove compartment about 45 degrees until it drops out of the dash.

  • Press down on the tabs on each side of the cabin filter cover to unhook it. Remove the filter cover.

  • Pull the old filter out of the filter compartment.

  • Insert the new cabin filter into the compartment. Make sure the air flow arrow is pointing toward the roof of the Maxima.

  • Replace the cabin filter cover. Press on the sides of the cover until it snaps into place.

  • Reposition the glove compartment to its original position. Slide the pins into their slots on the bottom of the glove compartment.
