How to Replace a 2003 Durango Headlight

The headlights on the 2003 Dodge Durango are inside sealed housings. You will need to buy replacement headlight units separately; replacement headlights will cost $25 or more depending on the brand that you want. You will need to adjust the headlights once they are installed. You will need only one household tool and about 15 minutes to replace both of the headlights.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Replacement headlight
  • Open the hood of the Durango and locate the back of the headlight. Pull the wire harness from the rear of the headlight. Remove the screws that are securing the headlight to the frame of the Durango; they're located on the right and left side of the housing on the inside of the engine compartment. Remove them using the Phillips-head screw driver.

  • Loosen the two adjustment screws on the front of the headlight using the screwdriver. Pull the headlight from the frame of the Durango.

  • Place the new headlight into position and tighten the adjustment screws. Replace and tighten the securing screws using the screwdriver to secure the new headlight in place on the frame.

  • Plug the wire harness into the rear on the new headlight. Adjust the new headlights, using the Phillips-head screwdriver to tighten or loosen the adjustment screws.
